When social journalism meets entertainment

Steffen Hallaschka

Steffen Hallaschka. Serious infotainment has a name.

Steffen Hallaschka:

Steffen Hallaschka embodies a new, contemporary generation of quality journalism. His roots lie in radio and television, but with 30 years of experience, he moves confidently across all media and platforms. He is the very definition of 360-degree journalism—in one person. Hallaschka is at once a serious anchorman, an investigative reporter, and an engaging entertainer. In each of these roles, he remains true to his mission: to inform, to enlighten, to inspire social change—and never to bore.

Steffen Hallaschka builds the bridge between moderation and journalism, blending entertainment and information whenever the moment calls for it. In 2011, he took over Stern TV (RTL) and has consistently grown the brand ever since, shaping it with his own distinctive style. As a host, he stands for independence, credibility, and commitment.

Steffen Hallaschka has received multiple awards for his journalistic work, including the Civis Medienpreis (1999) for the program 100 Grad – Fremdenfeindlichkeit, the Kurt-Magnus-Preis (2002), and the Deutscher Fernsehpreis for Stern TV as Best Information Program (2012) as well as for Sterben für Anfänger (2023). Beyond journalism, he embraces social responsibility as a patron of the charity project Kicken mit Herz and the homeless day center MAhL ZEIT.

The presenter is married, has a daughter and a son, and lives with his family in Hamburg.
